It's been forever since I last wrote. At the time I thought with good intentions to keep writing but one thing lead to another and well you know the story. I also found it hard to keep up with all the computer things. Listing items on my web page, creating my Etsy shop, working on getting things to put on the pages.... see what I mean.
I have been working on creating Mama Jeans and the holidays seemed to keep me busy what with family and fairs and such and then January came along. I cleaned the studio organized fabrics worked on a few things and tried to keep moving forward. But somewhere along this path I hit a bit of a roadblock. I think the reality of doing this is a bit scary and I came face to face with it. Scheduling my time and having a goal sounds simple but reality is, it's a lot harder than it looks. I am trying to focus on a direction but I don't know which way I want to go yet. Well, not really. When I started, I thought I wanted to build clothes for people of size. It's been a nightmare trying to find things over the years that were pretty and bright and fit and so I created all my own clothes and figured I'm not alone in wanting them. Then I started quilting and making things for people that weren't clothes and I enjoy it a great deal, but it seems like I should try to focus a bit more. I like creating but will people buy? I just know that I really want to find a way to make this work. I want to be able to make enough money to make my part of the living expenses and support my business, and I don't think that is to much to ask, so on I go.
I have the paper work for joining the Mercy Corp program on starting a small business and I need to get it turned in or get the paperwork for the other organization and start working with them. I think it would help to have to create a mission statement and a business plan. It will keep me focused on the goal. Be happy, create from the heart, laugh often, love more and make a beautiful space to occupy in the universe. Give others beautiful things to help make their space in the universe unique and special for them. Did I mention that getting a heart on Etsy makes me smile every time? It's like finding money in your purse when you didn't know it was there. It's people saying hey, I really like what you do and I support you. It was one of the greatest inventions that the Etsy people came up with when they created their amazing company. Hearts, they aren't just for Valentines.
